The most recent draft of the Monroe County Urbanizing Area Plan recognizes that stormwater management is a key site plan consideration for new development within the Urbanizing Area. Filtering stormwater run-off from development is critical in order to preserve the water quality of the streams, riparian areas and wetlands that contribute significantly to the character of the Urbanizing Area. Different types of green infrastructure can be incorporated into development sites to help filter stormwater run-off before it is absorbed or reaches existing bodies of water. Examples of green infrastructure include pervious pavement, rain gardens, and bioswales. What types of green infrastructure would you like to see incorporated into development sites within the Urbanizing Area?
